Instruction
I have learned that instruction involves so much more than planning and giving a lesson to students. Effective instruction involves on-the-spot reflection, formative assessment, differentiation, and intervention, among other elements.
During this internship year, I gained experience working with interventions such as Read Naturally, guided reading strategy groups, Touch Math, and daily conferencing.
I also discovered the merits of various methods of assessment, as well as identifying the stages in learning that required assessment.
While even the best teachers cannot differentiate instruction for every lesson every day, I had many resources and opportunities to differentiate often to present my students with material and activities at their instructional level.
This area of my portfolio reveals my experience with the ins and outs of effective classroom instruction.
