Professionalism
An enormous part of being a teacher includes not only the interactions with students, but with co-workers and families. Every day provides an opportunity to collaborate with the village that works together to educate our students: grade-level coworkers, creative arts staff, school support staff, and more!
I seek continual feedback about the effectiveness of my teaching and collaborate with my grade level team each and every day to push my teaching, introduce innovations, and seek guidance for intervention strategies for students who may be struggling. I embraced this collaboration as a beginning teacher, and continue this every day as part of my practice.
I make a substantial contribution to our practices as a second grade team every day. I bring new ideas and enrich past practices and I feel as though I am a respected and necessary member of my team. I am organized and I communicate with the whole staff. I am a member of PBIS team, I’ve attended Restorative Practices and Healing Racism, and I am on the Global Educators Team as well. I participated in Global Champions. I continue to be a catalyst for the partnership with the other second grade teachers across the district. I was instrumental in that collaborative piece and have shared many resources and spearheaded this relationship. I am also a building representative for the Education Association, attend meetings, and stay up-to-date with how other schools handle issues. I work collaboratively with teachers outside of my grade level team, and help them problem-solve.

Philosophy of Education
After 4 years of undergraduate classes in education, several field placements, a final internship, and many days of reflection and questioning, I comprised my own philosophy of education.

Subject Area Philosophies
I believe that every teacher must equip him or herself with a philosophy surrounding each subject that they are qualified to teach. Below are PDF documents of my Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science philosophies. Click on the photograph to open the file.
